    Mel's Diner in LODI!

Ever since I moved back to this area a few years ago I've seen this location change ownership numerous times already, but the restaurant has always had the same name. The previous owner served breakfasts and lunches, with some German dishes tossed in for good measure. Hopefully, this time will be the last change of ownership.

The current owner's theme for this restaurant is based on a 50's diner, with pictures of Elvis and other celebrities from that era. The decor also reflects the theme with plastic upholstered seats and tablecloths you would find from that decade. Very bright and cheery atmosphere!

The emphasis on their menu is affordable American-style traditional breakfasts and lunches that you would find at a diner or restaurant during the 50s and 60s. You can get a wholesome breakfast for under $7, and a good lunch under $8. The service was fast and attentive.

Unfortunately, though, this new, sanitized atmosphere will turn off the clientele who used to come into Hollywood Cafe and nurse a cup of coffee and talk over old times with their friends for over two hours. There are fewer and fewer places for that type of customer... sad...

One recommendation to the owners, though, is that they put a little effort on the outside appearance as well as the inside. A passerby would not know that Hollywood Cafe has transformed itself into Mel's Diner!

All that's needed now is a jukebox to complete the theme!

    Update 8-30-2007

    Jukebox added!

Seems like Hollywood has raised their prices since first review... predictable. Probably will have to spend $10 for a breakfast and a drink now.

Found out that the old-times that come here in the good ol' days have gone to... Richmaid Dairy Restaurant, and believe it or not.... McDonald's on Lodi Avenue and Church Street.

Seems like the motorcycle crowd, and owners of hot rods (old-fogy owners of vehicles that want to relive their youth) are frequenting this establishment quite a bit.

My favorite side with a breakfast has been biscuits with gravy (with sausage bits)... reminds me when I was in the Army. But the Army version used hamburger meat instead. Why would I want to be reminded of that period of my life???

We were looking for an alternative to a chain, on the way up to the Sierras, and wow, this was great. Simple food- nice service, funky atmosphere, and we were happy. i had the BLT with avocado, other diners had small hamburger & another BLT. I wish them luck- it's just a breakfast & lunch place, and a totally refreshing place to road weary drivers. Right off 99.

One of the best breakfast spots in Lodi!! I live in Stockton and will drive to Lodi just for breakfast at the Hollywood Cafe. I love the 50's decor and the food is great. I have 3 kids who are picky eaters and getting them all to agree on one restaurant is no easy task but they all love the Hollywood Cafe.

Better than any Mel's. Nice and cheap, breakfast is the best food. We drive from Sacramento area just for the great food and service. Love the decorations and the huge juke box. I always like to get the waffle combo. Where else can you get a waffle with eggs, meat, and potatoes for less than seven bucks!

Ive been here for breakfast at least a dozen times since my son started preschool in Lodi and I love it! Everything I've had has been good but I love the coffee because they have flavored creamer and for me thats a "must" for breakfast! The waitresses are very friendly and efficient and the service is good. The cook will even come out to see if you enjoyed your breakfast! Its got a nice "local" feel to it and I hope this place is around for years to come!
PS Try their breadpudding! Even at 9am its AMAZING!

My wife and I go to breakfast almost every sunday. We have had breakfast at numorus restaurants, and have ate at Hollywood two times. Both times we were there we were served one of the BEST breakfasts we have ever had. I saw one review which said the pancakes were not good. This person must have drank his breakfast before he ate it there. Best pancakes I have ever had!

I used to come in here all the time growing up, as I used to live right down the street from this place for a few years. I'd stop in every couple of years just to see if everything was the same. They used to have old black & white pics of lodi and the surrounding areas, which I always thought were cool to look at. I hadn't been to the Hollywood in years and was in Lodi for a little vacation so I thought I'd take my wife to a place I used to frequent as a kid. Boy, when we walked in, it was like I was in a completely different restaurant than what I'd remembered. As other yelpers have commented, the new owners have completely re-done the inside to reflect more of a 50's diner look, the old geographical photos have been replaced by black & whites of old actors and celebrities, and the old-time candy stick counter thing is gone!
Feeling disheartened because of all of that, I decided to give the place a try anyway. We sat up at the counter, which is a fun experience for anyone who wasn't around to do that kind of thing back in the day. Waitress was quick with the order taking, our food didn't seem to take too long to get to us either. Food was great, everything was cooked perfectly! I had the classic breakfast: eggs, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns and pancakes. My wife had the same except with country potatoes instead of hash browns, everything was excellent! If I still lived in Lodi, this would be my regular breakfast spot, but I'll have to settle for going there whenever I'm in town!

Great service!! Super cute inside, not what I was expecting from the area. The food was good quality diner food and at great prices. Would defiantly recommend!!

Stopped by this little cafe while traveling thru Lodi. The decor is old Hollywood with an auto theme. We greeted by the owner, who also served us. I cannot say enough about the service. It seemed like they knew just about everyone who stopped in to eat. Hugs and handshakes for the regulars. The owner's father circled the tables with greetings. We ordered breakfast meals even though it was close to lunch. Just about every meal comes with a cinnamon bun and a "Shot" of your choice of juice. For $8.99 I got the eggs florentine & country potatoes. You can substitute toast for a side of biscuits & gravy which I opted for. My husband opted for one of the omelette specials and got a pancake instead of the cinnamon roll. The portions are right on and the food is awesome. We were offered their homemade salsa which is made by the owner's father. It is really good with a bite to it. The owner is lovely, beautiful smile and very generous. We will be making a special trip to Lodi just to eat at the Hollywood Cafe again!

I pass here everyday on my way home from school, and have decided to stop in a couple times. It's awesome. You can get a plate full breakfast for $6, and we're talking an omelet, hash browns, bacon, and then a pancake the size of a plate. I feel stuffed every time. And it's tasty food. It has the homemade, fresh from grandma's kitchen taste. I love it

  • *****

Great tasting food large portions low prices for amount you get. Fun 50s diner vibe with great pictures some of Lodi's oldest photos in town and great Photos from Hollywood classic actors. Try your next breakfast at Hollywood family cafe

Hollywood cafe has been In lodi for a very long time. With the multiple owners in the 15 years we've lived in lodi, we have always loved the quality of food here. Having said that, I appreciate the quality of breakfasts served here every time we stop by. The business is family run and if you're lucky, grandpa will check on your service! In addition, many breakfasts come with a hot fresh Cinnamon roll. Yummy. The portions are large and average breakfast is $10.

Stopped in here on a Sat morning. Never been before. The place was very busy but still was seated quickly. For an older establishment it was clean and not dusty/dreary. A decent selection on the menu, i decided to try the rooster special. Diced ham, onion, and potatoes covered with two eggs any style and then topped with holandaise sauce. It was great! As well as their biscuits and gravy, which they put crumbled bacon on! It took a little bit for our food to arrive though, but chalked it up to them being busy. We got two meals and drinks and spent less than $10 because of a groupon deal. Can't beat that. Looking forward to exploring the menu more in the future.

Food is pretty good and for the price you pay well worth it! Only disappointment I've truly ever had came from the huevos rancheros. Service is always friendly and it's nice to see a family working together!

  • *****

Very good food and excellent service.

  • *****

We love coming here for breakfast when we're in the Lodi area. The biscuits and gravy are great and the service is always friendly. The sausage and bacon are always well cooked and not overcooked like at some other places.

This is one of our favorite breakfast places in Northern CA.

I haven't been there for lunch or dinner, but if I'm in the area I will give them a try.

Darlene catered a Holiday Engagement Party (cocktails & hors D'oeuvres) for us. She did a terrific job preparing all the food then helped set everything up for us! We got so many complements and everyone loved the food!

This place is so sweet. I had to have a central meeting for my Stockton and Elk Grove markets, I called and asked if they had a private area to accommodate 8 people and they were very friendly and inviting. I arrived 3 days later with my crew and we were greeted with smiles and happy people. We got our quiet area to meet and eat. It was a super busy spot which is always a good sign when you see there's 4 diners within 5 miles.
After 10 minutes you can see why they're busy, grandpa brings the coffee with a smile and a joke. The owner takes our order and at no point does anyone want for anything.
The food is delicious and hot, tables are bussed efficiently and most importantly my crew is happy and ready to work.

Thanks Hollywood we will be back.

The best place for breakfast in lodi, I really love coming here. Pancakes is love, and their services are good too

This is the best diner around. They have good food and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.
I went to eat at this restaurant about a month ago and wanted to write a review back then. I just now got around to doing so. I'm sure everything is just as great and I'll be back to eat again very soon. I'm looking forward to trying a dinner option on a Friday or Saturday night.

Great! Applewood Bacon and Cheese Omelet, Hash Browns, Toast and coffee 10.99. Plate over flowing more than enough food. Atmosphere was homey and diner all in one. People friendly and service was top notch.

Great breakfast, great service. Their sausage patties is scrumptious! Reasonably priced entrees and great atmosphere! They even had a picture of a relative of mine! Movie actor, James Hong, from Wayne's World and Seinfeld.

Found this little jewel off the beaten path of Highway 99 and Lodi. Sweet family run, 50s style diner. Very friendly and attentive staff, great food and excellent coffee. We will definitely stop here again next time we're in the area.

We decided to go to the Hollywood Caf after my grandma found online that they have a gluten free menu. After speaking with the family that runs the 50's style diner caf I was very pleased with the precautions they took to ensure you got a gluten free meal. They discuss with each diner there sensitivity and make sure to clean the grill off or even do as I requested and just make it all in a separate pan. They had a separate gluten free menu which had tons of options. You could get what seemed like anything on the menu just modified to make it gluten free. Since I am dairy free too though we had to have a little deeper discussion on what would work for me. After the waitress spoke with their mom in the back it was determined they could do the gluten free french toast dairy free as well by whipping up a quick batter for mine that didn't have the cream in it. This ended up working out great and I was super happy with the end result which was topped with loads of strawberries.

A couple things to keep in mind when you visit; communicate with the waitresses your level of allergy or sensitivity and they do not have a gluten free toaster. They can toast your bread in a pan or on the grill if you request it. They use Pamela's mix for their gluten free pancakes and Udi's bread for all the gluten free options. Next time I think I'll try the chili which looked super good on my grandpa's breakfast!

Definitely a great breakfast/brunch spot to meet up if you have celiac or other food allergies. They understand and can take the precautions necessary to make sure you have a safe meal.

The BEST home cooked food in town. I love the staff, everyone is always very nice and attentive. And the food is to die for, you can't pick a bad meal there
It has a throwback to the 50's laid back feel, not stuffy and very welcoming. Always our go to for breakfast.

the best service i have ever experienced i will definitely come back again i recommenced to all family and friends.

I've lived in Lodi for 35+ years and had never heard of this place. We went hear for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was very nice, clean and well decorated. We very much enjoyed the atmosphere including the oldies playing in the background. The staff was extremely friendly.

I had French toast and my wife had a pancake meal. We also added hash browns and a cinnamon roll. Everything was very good. I think we'll go again in the not too distant future.

  • *****

One of the best places in Lodi for breakfast! I particularly love the omelets. I will agree with others that the service can be a bit slow. However, the employees are so friendly and attentive. I don't mind waiting a bit for the food since it's always perfect. I've only had lunch here once, and it was great too. I enjoy the true diner atmosphere. Highly recommend!

My mom just done with medical procedure here at LMH and first thing she wants to eat she says is Hollywood Cafe's New York steak!.....Love you guys!

  • *****

The food is always great. The Decor and ambience is perfectly themed all the way to the 'Tuck and Roll' booth seats.

Atmosphere is so friendly, you feel like you are in your family neighborhood where everyone is glad to see you. A feeling of community is what I like to call it.

I imagine Darlene and the rest of the crew would do this for you, but I get extra garlic on my garlic fries and it feels like I'm asking mom for more and she says yes.

The restaurant is focused on breakfast and lunch and fills the bill so well in that regard. The next time you find yourself within proximity to downtown lodi, take a 5 min ride down to the corner of Cherokee and Lodi Avenue, you will see them on the right. Pull in right off the street, just like in the old days.

Darlene and her catering staff deserve 5+ stars. She understands the catering business, and is dedicated to providing quality service with sincere caring and concern for the details.
Our family was hit with a double tragedy: two immediate-family deaths within 20 hours.
We planned a double memorial at Heritage Oak Winery for our 2 loved ones who had passed. Darlene and her catering company were recommended to us by a trusted friend.
From the very first moment of talking to Darlene it was very clear that she was the perfect choice to help us accomplish our goals. She was informative, organized, and compassionate, and always responsive to our questions and needs. She helped us create a spread of appetizers for 150 people that were very customized to our desires, and that made use of local ingredients. She gave us helpful advice where needed and worked seamlessly with the location staff and its management to make our difficult but important day a very good experience, and although a sad memory, it is a good memory. Whenever I am in Lodi, I will always make it a priority to go to the Hollywood Family Caf to get a hug from Darlene, thank her again, and to enjoy a lovely meal that is cooked and served with a very generous and caring heart (Darlene) as its inspiration.

Hollywood Family Catering did an awesome job with our lunch event! They were very great in providing us a full hot lunch of enchiladas and steak fajitas with a variety of sides that was delicious. They were on time, organized, clean, and great to work with. What else could you ask for? Would definitely recommend them!

First time at Hollywood cafe, my dad told my husband and i about it, so we checked it out this afternoon. Good service and the hamburgers were excellent and fried yummy crunchy on the outside soft and tender inside!!! Also the decor....so nostalgic, nice! I also noticed they have a lot of regulars, which they would greet with a friendly hello. Check this Cafe out!

My wife and I stopped in this morning since we liked this place so much. Again.... Not disappointed in the least. Now I have been doing restaurant reviews for years. I have complimented them and tore them apart. This local gem is just that. A GEM ! I had for breakfast a breakfast burger with hollandaise sauce. I have never like hollandaise sauce, ever. But on a customers recommendation I tried it,

My wife had corn beef hash breakfast plate. My wife couldn't compliment her breakfast enough. She said it was perfect. To many times she has said her meal was to salty, or other problems. This time she nothing but smiles. My plate however............. was AWESOME ! This meal was so large and great tasting I could not finish it. The hollandaise sauce was great. It has made me a fan.

Now ...... about the staff....... To many good things to say about them. From the owner to her daughter and her father and all the other staff members. Not one person was a grouch. Attention to the customer is paramount here. Coming here honestly make you feel like they have known you for years, or you're like part of the family. The owner's father is someone you wish was your dad, or uncle or well just a family member........ just a great person. He personally came to our table without ever seeing us before, shook our hands and let us know he was leaving, and hoped we had a great day.The smiles at this place are genuine. I watched every employee, and every employee interacted the same with everybody. They made everybody feel right at home and that they mattered.

What a great find this place is. I recommend that everybody make it a point to come here and have a meal you won't forget. The drive from wherever you live is worth the trip. My wife and I drive all the way from Elk Grove and worth every mile getting here. We plan on making this place a permanent place to eat. I can hardly wait to try the lunches here.

Forget Denny's, forget Black Bear, forget Ihop, definitely forget "BERT's" in Wilton, and for sure forget "Original Mikes" in Elk Grove. (bert's and mikes pretend to be a family place) In fact forget all those other places and drive to Lodi for a truly hometown family restaurant. If you like the 1950's and 60's classic cars. Call them to find out when and what time they have the classic car shows there on select Friday's and Saturday's.

We finally made it on time to eat here!!! Love the decor in and outside of the cafe. They have a good selection of items on the menu at great prices. The steak and eggs were 8.99$ I had the eggs Benedict for 10.99$! It was all worth the price. The food was delicious, the service was great
Just keep in mind they are a bit slow on food preparation but to me it was worth the wait!
Hours are limited so get there early!

My wife and I stopped in here today on the way to Ripon. I was so impressed with our first visit we had to go back. But with any restaurant there will always be a hiccup or two. Today is no different. My plate was cooked a little early and it sat while my wife's food was being cooked. Well my food was barely warm at best. My wifes toast was also cold. We sent it back, and it came back to us not in the best way.

My wife and I just ate it anyway because we try not to go for a third plate. I did mention the problem to our server and with an abundance of apologies she was great. It turns out our server is the owners daughter. Her name is Farryn. Awesome lady. Then we got to actually meet the owner Darlene. I tell ya something, my wife and I couldn't of had a better end result to a simple mistake by the cook.

It was a pleasure talking with both of them, and by just listening to them, they really care about their customers. Whether it's a new customer or a customer that has been coming there since it opened in the 1940's. Every customer matters. Five stars for the food (EXCEPT TODAY'S), and 5 stars for customer service. One of the oldest places to eat in Lodi.

Really clean place to. Unlike Bert's in Wilton and Original Mikes in Elk Grove, Hollywood Family Cafe is # 1 in everything. No comparison. This place has class, good food, and unbound friendliness.

All the other little hometown restaurants should take a look at how this place does business. They will learn a great deal. To bad there aren't more places like this.

So I was on my way to pick my dog up from the vet, but I was way too early so decided to stop at the first sit down cafe I could find. I chanced across this lovely little nook and I do not regret it one bit.

I was immediately welcomed when I walked in. The owner and the waitress, Darlene, were very friendly and funny; easy to be personable with. The decor and the ambiance all ties together in a very relaxing atmosphere that I felt very comfortable in. Overall beautiful place.

Perhaps it's because it brought me back to memories of going to a cafe for pancakes and hot coacoa with my great uncle or because of my outstandingly positive experience here, or a little bit of both, but I'll definitely be coming back when I'm in town!

This place has obviously changed hands and it's so much fun now. We come here for breakfast, and the morning staff are so sweet and cheerful and they make my poached eggs perfectly. I would like the coffee to be stronger but that's just me. Some days it's slower than others, but c'mon, it's a family run restaurant and some days are just like that.

Food was DELICIOUS!!!! a lot of food for a great price. The staff was super friendly. The old man that cooks and busses the tables is the sweetest guy! I wish I lived around here so I could come back!!!

First time going here...food was good and waitress was very attentive. They are now open for dinner on Friday and Saturday. We will go back to try out breakfast.

  • *****

Large portions of classic comfort food at reasonable prices.

Service is friendly and the clientele is a nice mix of locals. The interior is open with a kitschy diner feel and everything appears clean.

The best part is the food. This isn't where you eat if you want to cut calories...you go here if you want stick-to-your-ribs cooking that fills you up! The breakfasts are great and the milkshakes are next on my list to try.

  • *****

Adorable dinner, fantastic food, extremely nice staff!!! We stopped here while waiting for my Honda to be serviced. I'm so glad we did. The cafe is really cute and it is decorated in 50's style complete with photos of Elvis, Marilyn, Classic cars, etc. we were greeted with a big smile, and although we had to wait a bit it was clear the server was running her legs off. The food was worth the wait. I had chicken and waffles. The fried chicken was hot, crispy, fresh, and best I've ever had. Hubby had country fried steak and biscuits. He also said it was the best he had ever had. They were very short staffed and the place was packed, so there was a 40 min or so wait. But it's impossible to serve so many different items hot and fresh, a wait should be expected. Prices were good also and place was very clean and cheery. We will return!

I had not been to the Hollywood Caf in way over 25 years. We had gone there when my husband's grandmother said that was where we were going for lunch on a visit to see her. It was an old caf back then but the food was good and the staff friendly. I had an Entertainment Book coupon which was a pleasant surprise so I took my mother there. I was shocked at how cute the inside of the caf was. Very upbeat and reminded me of the show Happy Days. Staff were all very friendly. Food was very tasty and I especially loved that the Senior Citizen Discount was from age 55 so I qualified.....lol.
Do not let the exterior of the building sway you not to enter because once you open the door and go inside you will be transferred back in time. Worth a try if you have not been there in a while or ever....

  • *****

I've been here for breakfast several times. The omelets are good-come with a large serving of potatoes or hashbrowns. Also come with toast, juice, and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon rolls are super good!! I've had french toast the last few times-best french toast ever!!

The waitress that is usually there in the mornings is really good-her name is something like Sherray. The other servers...not so good. including the owner.

  • *****

Really my only complaint is that this restaurant is NOT located in my community. We stopped at Hollywood twice -- the first time we missed because they close at 3pm everyday except Friday and Saturday. The return trip was worthwhile because the food and service both were excellent. To first address the service, the server (Darlene) is also the owner of the restaurant and was extremely friendly and attentive. Service was excellent. The food was prepared correctly and was generously portioned. And after the meal was over, we then decided to share a piece of berry pie which was most delicious.

What a fine experience at Hollywood !!!

The hotel we stayed at recommended this restaurant. My family and I LOVED it. A warm, loving, heartfelt welcome from the owners father, he's charming and a cutey. The owner, staff and her father gave exceptional service. We absolutely enjoyed our breakfast. The decor is fabulous. How I wish it was closer to my home.
    Worth a visit, NO regrets.

Lived in Lodi my whole life and never stopped in until last week. I went for breakfast both times. Very good breakfast with eggs cooked perfect and country potatoes very tasty. We took grand kids and they have a good kids menu. Servers and staff very friendly but wow the service is really slow. So if you go just be patient or go for fast food. Food not fast but way better. We will go back.

The food here is great. My kids love the decor and the wait staff is always so friendly.

I usually get the spinach and feta omelet, it's seriously good. It comes with with a cinnamon roll and a shot glass full of the fruit juice of your choice.

My kids either get pancakes or waffles and really you can't go wrong with that ever.

A-mazing! I got gluten free waffles with whipped cream and strawberries! Husband got meat lovers scramble. Gigantic. He ate almost all of it too! Most amazing part was Darlene and the staff. They said to call ahead and they can make almost anything, even sugar free whipped cream! Awesome since I'm celiac and type 2 diabetic. We will be back!!!!!

Honestly, if it wasn't for a restaurant.com certificate, I probably would have never tried this restaurant. I've driven by it several times without ever thinking of stopping in for a bite. The outside appearance isn't bad, just very outdated and not attractive. But inside, it's cute! All decked out in a 1950's Hollywood theme, with lots of photographs and wall art to admire. Even the seating booths remind me of a 1950's car and looked to be well cared for. A fun place to take your children. There's also several TV's on the wall too for those that can't seem to disconnect from a tube.
The front door has two large steps, so if you have a stroller or wheelchair enter through the back door as I was told by another customer that helped me pull my stroller inside. Baby asleep inside, so I couldn't just leave it. The menu shared a summary of history of this restaurant. It's been around for a long time so I can understand why the architecture is the way it is.
When we came inside, it was already business and probably why the staff didn't notice I needed assistance, while a customer did. I waited for their direction, not sure if I should seat myself or wait to be seated. I wasn't greeted, so I was a little worried what I had just walked into with my children. But I decided to seat us to a convenient table that would accommodate my stroller. It took about 5 minutes for someone to actually respond to us being there. I think I should have waited to be seated. It took another 5 minutes to get our drinks and meal ordered. It also took awhile for the food to be served, but this restaurant isn't a fast food joint.
The food was worth the wait. My boys really enjoyed their corn dogs and the fries are delicious! Best kind of fries ever! My daughter enjoyed a yummy chocolate milkshakes. Definitely would order that again. And my daughter and I shared a great big plate of nacho awesomeness! Lots of REAL shredded cheese, not that fake nacho cheese stuff that come in a can. It was piled with chucks of grilled chicken breasts, beans, onions, sliced avocado and salsa. The only thing that could make this nacho dish the best in town, thicker chips. Overall, the food is great!
As for more information about the restaurant, there are two bathrooms, both were spotless clean and nicely decorated. Somehow I have it in my head that a clean bathroom is a good sign that the kitchen is likely clean too. I was surprised to find that neither had a baby changing table. This is not a complaint, just mere information for those parents that have little ones so be prepared to be creative with a diaper change.
I will often people watch and feel a review of staff is just as important was the food. Seemed like the other customers were enjoying their meals, including a large family that came in at the same time we did. As for the staff, It was very clear in a short matter of time who was in charge. She was directing a couple of younger waiters on what to do, as if she was watching every table. For example, if a table needed a drink refill, she'd point it out. I also received a free refill on my coffee without having to ask. Coffee was good, by the way. No fancy coffees offered, such as mochas or lattes.
When it was come time for the bill, the waiter accepted the restaurant.com certificate with no problem at all. I would also like to note the young and blond teen doing his best as a waiter. He was certainly polite and helpful when my four year old asked for another two coloring pages, but seemed somewhat overwhelmed. It surely was quite busy when we were there, so I certainly don't blame him. I did make a inquiry if he was in training, but the boss remarked he'd been working there for six months and a senior in high school. Ah, I remember working during my senior year. It surely wasn't as a waiter, but being a working student. If the staff happens to read this review, please have patience. He'll get there, if you have confidence in him.

It was the day before the 4th of July and every other breakfast place in town was packed. I had forgotten about this little hidden gem until now.
We stopped in and the place was hoppin'! They were clearly understaffed and not anticipating the rush. We talked to the one server and she assured us that back-up was on the way.
The service was super friendly and attentive, even though you could see the poor servers running crazy. A very nice customer/friend even helped out by filling coffee. There were many regulars and the place felt like you were having breakfast with family.
As for the food... Breakfast was delicious and you got a lot of food for a great value!!
I ordered the breakfast combo (I think that's what it was called) so that I could share with my little man. It came with: Two eggs, two bacon strips, two sausage links, two pancakes, and either hashbrowns or country potatoes. All of that for $9.99!! Let me say that we both ate a ton and still took home a pretty full to-go container!
Hollywood Cafe is a great place for breakfast. They have a huge menu with many items that I look forward to trying. The restaurant is clean and the service was great. I'll most definitely be back.

The best breakfast place in lodi! We've been getting tired of the same ol' bland food around town. We are quite happy we found this place.
Our omelets were very flavorful and made with fresh ingredients. Our breakfast came with a delicious homemade cinnamon roll YUM!
They have a very cute 50's theme going on. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Also, this place is clean!!!!
We will definitely be back. There are many items on the menu we are looking forward to try.

Host was super attentive his name is Freddy. He took the time to explain the difference in size for drinks. Additionally he brought out a kids menu for the youngsters as well as a crayons and coloring paper. I hope the owner keeps him around a long time. The restaurant was excellently cleaned by the staff and also tastefully decorated with a glamorous 1960's vibe. I ordered the eggs Benedict and I appreciated the hollendaisen sauce because it wasn't made from powder or concentrate. The muffins as well we crisp and not stale you could tell the they were freshly made that morning. Even the eggs were cooked to perfection, it's so easy to over cook an egg. The waitress also great with a packed house, restaurant could use an additional waitress during the rush hours. all in all a wonderful dining experienced.
